Daily Record in Fabricated Story Shocker

Last updated : 30 June 2008 By Clydebuilt

It has been revealed that the story that appeared in the Record at the weekend linking Shunsuke Nakamura with a move to newly promoted Itatlian side Bologna was completely fabricated. Further to that, the quotes that were printed within the article, attributed to Bologna Chief Alfredo Cazzolo were made up according to Mr Cazzolo.

According to Bologna's website, Cazzola "wants it known that he has not released the long and detailed statement which appears on the website of a British newspaper talking about interest in Nakamura".

The club added that Cazzola "has said that the statement was completely made up, and that he is appalled in the face of this scandalous way of doing journalism".

Celtic were also quick to deny this story stating "We've never heard of the representative who has claimed Bologna has made an offer for Shunsuke Nakamura.

"We have not received any offer from Bologna or from any other club. In any case Naka is delighted to be staying with Celtic and that is what he will be doing."

This sentiment was echoed by Naka's agent who said "Nakamura is quite happy to stay at Celtic. He has always stated that once he finished at Celtic, he will go home to Japan and that remains his position."

So it would appear that Naka is going nowhere, which is a good news story.

Yours in Celtic
