Cinderella Celtic

Well with the seasonal pantomimes coming into effect over the next few weeks it easy to get caught up in the swing of things. With one such pantomime springing to mind, Cinderella, one is reminded of Tuesday night and the effects it had on the green side of Glasgow.

Celtic started out this season's Champion's League, along with possibly Copenhagen, as the complete no-hoper. They were the scrubber in the kitchen in the big house with the ‘ugly sisters'. There was the forthcoming last 16 Ball in Paris. The ‘ugly sisters' Mancunia and Benficia were everybody's choice to be there. So after some very hard work in which nine points were ground out on home soil, not for the first time though, it was a great foundation.

Tuesday night was not for the fainthearted. Mancunia arrived with Rudolph their manager. It was ‘millionaire's row' against ‘two up two down'. Every department was a no contest! Rooney, Ronaldo, Carrick, Ferdinand and throw in the talent of Giggs and Saha, you had ‘the Premierships finest on show'.

From the first ball you could feel the heat that this particular contest threw up. Mancunia dominated proceedings for the majority of the game without actually inflicting any pain on the Paradise Faithful. The home support was phenomenal. It was as the late Bill Shankly once put it "they were like a twelfth man to us".

With the game running out to what looked like a scoreless draw, up stepped Celtic's Rising Sun the one they call NAKA, spearing a top drawer free-kick into the Mancunia net. Van der never Saar it!!! It was enough to send Cinderella to the Ball. There was a scare at the end but it was to be Party time and a joyful Spring to look forward to!

It was against all the odds. Even the media, especially the Sky ‘experts' were stuck for words. The Green side of Glasgow definitely were not stuck for words; they sang their hearts out into the cold night sky.

Mancunia must now wait for the visit of Benficia to fight it out to see who joins Cinderella at the last 16 Ball.
