CHARLIE GETS HIS NICHOLAS IN A TWIST

Former Celtic player Charlie Nicholas has criticised his former club for abusing the appeal system to prevent Bobo Balde being banned from Monday night's Scottish cup - tie with Aberdeen.

Nicholas, in his ghost written column in the, “Evening Times”, has spoken out after the club allowed Balde to appeal against the ban handed down by the SFA on Monday.

Nicholas seems, though, to be ignorant of the circumstances surrounding the appeal and has chosen to speak out without, as usual, establishing the facts.

It may come as a shock to Nicholas that everyone has the right of appeal no matter the circumstances but I am sure he wouldn't want to let that get in the way of a good rant.

He talks of, “Hypocrisy” and “ a bad smell”, over the clubs decision and then goes on to say he is puzzled as to why the club is appealing as they have already fined the player over the incident.

Well, Charles, if you would care to read the statement issued by Celtic's Chief Executive regarding the suspension I think you will find that the reasons for the appeal are there in Black and White. In fact, it's reported in your Newspaper, right beside your extremely well - written column.
