Celts Stroll to Top of the League

High scoring Celtic strolled to the top of the SPL this afternoon after a 4-0 victory over SPL new boys Hamilton. Goals from Shunsuke Nakamura, Georgios Samaras, Scott McDonald and Aiden McGeady were enough to gain maximum points.

Worryingly though Celtic lost Striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink in the first minute after he went down heavily after his first challenge of the match. Artur Boruc also managed to grab a few headlines after his double save denied Hamilton from the penalty spot. The return of his "Jazz hands" celebration had the stadium laughing to a man.

It was a confident yet subdued performance from Celtic, and if we had converted all of the chances that our play had the potential to provide then we could have run up a cricket score.

Gordon Strachan played a slight variation on his standard 4-4-2 formation with Barry Robson playing at left back and both Nakamura and McGeady occupying their preferred wings. McGeady however appeared to have been instructed to stay as central as possible. Could this be a sign of experimentation ahead of the double header with Manchester United?

Celtic had a few contenders for man of the match, with Nakamura and Samaras both having a claim with their inventive play but for all round brilliance the supporter's vote was the correct one as they elected Marc Crosas as having had the best game

Lets see if you can keep up Rangers. Lets also see if the stadium announcer at St Mirren is as offended by songs denigrating Ireland as he is with songs that celebrate it. Some how I doubt it!

Yours in Celtic
