The Korean Press are today reporting that Celtic have had an offer rejected for FC Seoul Midfielder Ki Sung Yeung. The highly rated midfielder who is widely tipped to be the next asian sensation is reported to be keen on the move despite his clubs insisting that he is not for sale.

A representative of the player had this to say

``Celtic sent us an official offer, which includes the transfer fee offer. We sent it to FC Seoul,'' an official at IB Sports, Lee's agency, told The Korea Times, Tuesday. ``The transfer fee is between 2 million euros (3.5 billion won or $2.9 million) and 3 million euros (5.3 billion won or $4.3 million).''

His club confirmed that an offer had been received. However they appear unwilling to sell the player at this time. However the Korea Times reports that despite the K-League Clubs resistance to the deal a meeting will take place today in London between the player's representatives and Peter Lawwell.

``It is true that we got an offer for Ki, but we cannot let him go. He is an important player in the club, and no one can replace him,'' FC Seoul spokesman Kim Byung-hyeok said. ``We already allowed Lee Chung-yong to move. Dejan and Lee Seung-yeoul are also waiting for national team calls.''

We will be watching this situation closely.

Yours in Celtic
