Celtic Sign Polish Goalkeeper

Gordon Strachan this evening completed the signing of Polish goalkeeper Artur Boruc from Legia Warsaw.

The stopper has signed a one year loan deal, with the option to making the move permanent this time next year. An undisclosed fee has been met with a view to more if we wish to keep him for a second year.

Boruc is Poland's number two goalkeeper, behind Liverpool's Jersey Dudek and comes to Celtic Park with the approval of last week's signing Maciej Zurawski.

Gordon Strachan was honest enough to admit that he was pursuing the signature of Antti Niemi but Celtic would not pay the fee which was being asked for him, reported to be £2 Million.

I wouldn't be too disappointed with the loss of Niemi, as we should look forward to seeing Boruc in action.  But with the luck Celtic have had in the recent past with goalkeepers, I was hoping we would sign a 'keeper like Niemi, who most of us have seen in action.  However, fingers crossed this one will work out.

Good luck to Artur for the forthcoming season.
