CELTIC MEDIA STAFF AND PLAYER SUBJECT TO SECTARIAN ABUSE AND SPITTING AT IBROX

The Celtic media team which covered the Old Firm game today, including suspended midfielder Alan Thompson, were the subject of continuous sectarian abuse and spitting in the main stand of the Rangers stadium.

Commentators Tony Hamilton and Margot McCuaig had to endure a barrage of sectarian abuse throughout the ninety minutes as they attempted to cover the game for the official Celtic website. The abuse got so bad at one point that they were finding it difficult to communicate effectively with anchorman Jim Craig back in the studio.

Both Alan Thompson and former player Tosh McKinley were the subject of sectarian taunts including being called a "Fenian B******" and both players were matted with phlegm and spit by the time the game was over.

On their return to Celtic Park, the media team, still in a state of shock, attempted to seek out Celtic Park Security supremo George Douglas to initiate an official complaint to his counterpart Lawrence McIntyre at Ibrox.

Thankfully, none of those involved received any serious injury but they were all left seriously shaken by the ordeal.
