Celtic fans comments about the Yellow armbands

Here are a few comments from "Celtic fans" about Celtic wearing the yellow armbands to highlight the campaign to find Madeleine..

Cybertims CSC says,

"This is going to sound harsh, im a mother before i get my heid bit off and i can only imagine what they are going through,

but im sorry a football field is no place for this and i dont think they should be wearing arm bands for this kind of thing."

This one from a teacher on Cybertims CSC

I feel really sorry for the parents and everyone connected but I really don't see how us wearing yellow will affect the situation in any way. I read that the father used to work at celtic park but surely a bunch of flowers or something from the club would do. They probably feel stupid and guilty enough as it is without all this.

I dont like clubs getting involved in this. what next? theres a tragedy every day and they cant keep doing it for everyone. now what we get is a club judging whats worth supporting. who is to say its ok to support the wee girl but not support someone wearing a celtic top that gets stabbed. clubs should keep out of it. on the other hand the publicity might help but its very doubtful.

The sooner her parents get jailed though the better. leaving your kids alone while you are out is nothing short of disgraceful and they should both be jailed for a very long time. whilst you cant prepare for someone sneaking into your home you can at least make sure you are there for your kids.

get a grip cyber, defences down your in a child friendly complex, very little crime in this area you can see this as the police have no idea how to deal with the situ, kids are in bed sleeping, now whilst i don't agree with going out for a meal and leaving kids alone, never in your wildest dreams would you believe someone could abduct your child!! the bottom line here is ANYTHING that can be done should be!! we all make mistakes unfortunately this is a major one for this child and it's her and her alone that needs the support and media co-operation from all across the world never mind the people whom attend celtic park !! regardless what anyone thinks of her parents whom have the worst scenario to deal with and god willing the strentgh to carry on the search, untill they know that wee girl is safe or otherwise we should not judge anyone or jail them when the living jail they are going through is more than enough!! whether you think rightly or wrongly the wearing of these armbands is for MADDY!! fault is not the essence of this exercise it's showing we as a FAMILY have respect for this child!! and i'd fecking personaly like to kill the fckers whom did this!! put them in a room full of mothers and they would'nt do it again!!

I'm saddened to read the attitude of some folk on this issue. I think you should be ashamed of yourselves.

We don't get all mushy and tearful at every daily tragedy around the world, cos we know that 'Thats Life!' What we are talking about here is a 4 year old girl (British), in a foreign country, and being taken out of her bed, probably forcefully, while she is in bed. An hour without their mothers at that age is traumatic, never mind a week!

If this was a Spanish girl or a Greek girl or any other nationality, we may have not even heard about it. This is close to home and we will do everything we can to support the family of this girl and pray for her safe return. If we don't take responsibility for raising this issue and maintaining the high profile, who will? The Spanish, the Greeks, the Norwegians??? No, of course not.

I hope you cold hearted posters here have a different attitude if its one of your family that is abducted. I think you should go and have a long hard think about your attitudes.

I thought Neil Lennon was very eloquent today when he made his appeal for help from the public. Proud as ever to be a Celt again after hearing him. Ashamed to be a Cybertim today.

I totally agree with LevBronstein. The attitude of some posters on this thread fill me with shame. Madelines father is from Glasgow and ive read that he worked at Celtic. His sister approached the club with the suggestion of the yellow ribbon/armband and i for one am glad that the club agreed. Celtic are a worldwide family and this gesture will be broadcast at least all over europe. We can only hope and pray that it has some positive resusl. The thoughts and prayers of myself and my family are with the McCann family at this time.

if it was a member of THEIR family they would soon think twice!.

There are matters and issues that are clearly beyond the importance of football. If this little girl's fate is not one such then what is? Me, my family and the vast majority of people here and beyond cannot imagine the hell the McCann family are going through. Those who dare to criticise the natural humanity that most feel regarding little Madeleine are lacking that very trait. Come home safe and God be with you little one.

I cant imagine posting on here about that poor wee soul and having even one member objecting. At the end of the day..we're decent people and not robots that can only talk football. This is a subject that would tear at the heartstrings of any decent human being and we'd be a right bunch of wierdo's if we didnt feel the need to talk about it!

Desperately sorry for her, and of course her family. I don't really see the point of moralizing and pointing the finger at her parents, for all the good it will do.
It's not about them being negligent, it's not about them being Middle Class, it's not about the competence or incompetence of the Portuguese police, it's not about society.

It's about one, or possibly more evil, sick, bastard(s) who clearly targetted this wee one. Put simply, had it not been her, it would have been some other poor, innocent wean. I cannot for the life of me put myself in the shoes, never mind the head of one of these sickos.

The mother looks as if she has had it, and is already a broken woman. My heart bleeds for her. They are both seemingly devout Catholics, one can only hope that their faith will sustain them through this difficult period, and God forbid, help them to cope with some terrible news ahead.

I would ask posters on here to be less critical of Gerry and Kate McCann, they are in pieces right now. They have the world's media on them now and are under tremendous strain and pressure.

However, when this situation is resolved, let's ensure that we make the government invest vast amounts of money and manpower to crack down on the paedophiles in our midst. If this was indeed something organized by a ring, then we need some sort of legislation to ensure that these perverts are permanently prevented from carrying out their depraved acts.

I would consider myself generally tolerant in most things, but when it comes to these 'people', my fascistic tendencies come out. They are sick and should be locked up for life. No remission for good conduct, no reduced sentences, no mercy. They are sick and can never be cured, they must be punished for life. Solitary confinement and kept away from any sense of normality.
