The Serie A outfit arrived in Glasgow on Wednesday for the first leg of their last-32 tie at Celtic Park on Thursday night having stabilised some ropey form with back-to-back wins.
Conversely, the Parkhead side, after a sticky start to their season when they passed up two chances to qualify for the Champions League, have won their last eight games and are top of the Scottish Premiership and on course for the domestic treble.
Deila conceded he was probably facing his biggest challenge since taking over from Neil Lennon last summer and explained why he believes Inter should be regarded as favourites.
"Just look at the squad Inter have," said the Norwegian
"It's totally different to what we have.
"Inter is a big club in the history of European football
Celtic have been big as well but it's a different league and a different level they play at normally.
"We have everything to win
We go in with lots of confidence.
"If we get a good result, we'll put a lot of pressure for them when we play them away from home."
Inter boss Roberto Mancini remembered, while at Manchester City, a visit from Deila when he was Stromsgodset manager and studying different managers and their training methods.
He laughed when asked if he hoped he had not taught Deila too well, then said
"I remember him very well
Ronny came to see the training; there were a lot of young managers who came to Manchester.
"He is a young manager but looking at his team, he is a good manager because they play very good football."
Indeed, Mancini stressed how impressed he is by Celtic's style of football under Deila.
He said: "I think that Scottish football has improved a lot in the last few years.
"It is better for teams to play the way Celtic are playing at this moment, because you can win if you play good football.
"Celtic have good technical players, they don't play classic long-ball football.
"They try to play on the ground so I think it will be a difficult match."
