Celtic and Barcelona Agree Crosas Deal

FC Barcelona announced last night via their official site that a deal to sell Central Midfielder Marc Crosas is almost done. The highly rated Catalan born player has been compared to Messi and Guardiola in recent times and would be an important addition to the team.

The deal is reported on fcbarcelona.cat as being 500,000 Euros with a further 900,000 Euros in add-ons based on appearances etc. Barcelona also reserve the right to buy back the player next season for 200, 000 Euros and if they decide not to activate that clause they will receive 25% of any transfer fee that Celtic would receive should the player be sold on by Celtic.

This sounds more like a loan deal than it does a purchase, with Barcelona protecting their interests by ensure that if the player does progress from prodigy to superstar then they have an option to bring him back. However this deal has benefits for Celtic also and given the fee is just over a million pounds then this can hardly be described as a gamble, especially if we were to be offered other young players in the future.

Well done to all involved.

Yours in Celtic
