Tommy Burns could be set to take the assistant coach job in the Scotland set - up and remain as Celtic's youth development officer.

It is understood that Burns is very keen on helping out Bertie Volgts but is also keen to remain at Celtic to continue the work he set out on recently.

After talks last night with Celtic's Chief Executive, Ian McLeod, it is thought a compromise had been reached and that Burns will do the Scotland coach job on a part time basis.

Burns earlier this month turned down the opportunity to return to Kilmarnock as manager.
