Boruc to Spurs is a Non-Story as Confirmed by the Manager.

Picture the scene. The never ending story of Robbie Keane coming to Celtic lands on the Sports Editors desk. The Sports Editor cannot reconcile himself with the notion that those pesky tims could possibly be lining up a swoop for a Premiership Star when his beloved ‘Gers cannot even afford a box of Lucky Stars.

“They must have a make-weight in this deal” barks the Editor! “Start speculating about Celtic’s better players going to Spurs” he roars to the assembled hacks, who resemble Captain Jack Sparrow’s crew from the Black Pearl (although the pirates did smell a tad more appealing and could handle their drink).

And then we fast forward to the present. A Polish newspaper interviews Boruc, and like any good journalist, they do a bit of research into recent news stories and low and behold, the question of Artur going to Spurs is raised!

Like some perverse feedback loop the Scottish Sports Editor now has a quote regarding Artur and the prospect of joining Spurs and his job is safe for another day.

Finally to add icing to the cake, the manager is then forced to make a statement and he has yet another headline out of a fabrication.

The manager had this to say:

"First of all I think I'd have had a phone call from Harry Redknapp if Spurs were interested in Artur," said Mowbray.

"That's the way he does business and he certainly hasn't asked me about Boruc.

"Artur's undoubtedly the most asset-rich keeper I have ever worked with. He's spectacularly good.

"I judge my keepers on their ability to keep the ball out of the net and I know how hard Boruc works to maintain his standards in that direction.

"He works exceptionally hard in training because he knows what he needs to do."

Yours in Celtic
