ABERDEEN REFUTE ULSTER FLAG CLAIM

Aberdeen football club have refuted claims that an Ulster flag was thrown at Neil Lennon during the cup tie last night. Their official website states that the item thrown onto the pitch was an aberdeen scarf:

"It is clear to us that it was in fact an Aberdeen scarf which was thrown on to the pitch. However we do not in any way condone ANYTHING being thrown on to the pitch and steps will be taken to identify the culprit. I would urge all fans to maintain the very highest standards of behaviour at all games as we wish to keep Pittodrie a stadium where families can come and enjoy football in a safe, pleasant and harmonious environment. "

Aberdeen are to be congratulated on this stance and we wait to see if they follow through with the required action.
