Motherwell 4-4 Celtic

Another defensive disaster cost Celtic three points at Fir Park yesterday, as our 'against' total reached nine goals in just two games. Celtic threw away a 3-1 half time lead, and only just managed a late equaliser to finish the game 4-4.

Already, there are doubts amongst the Celtic supporters over the appointment of Gordon Strachan. But people must remember that many of the players who are costing us games are left over players from last season. Yes, Strachan's signings have so far been poor, but he must be given time.

A John Hartson hat-trick in the first half looked to have wrapped up the game. But our second half performance was a joke, and we allowed Motherwell to score three headers, where the players were unmarked and allowed to pick their spot. The defence should not be allowing this to happen, but you also have to ask where was the goalkeeper for the crossed balls?

With our defence leaking so many goals, it's hard to see how we have any chance of qualifying on Tuesday. A plus point of yesterday's match was that we scored four goals, and we played some alright stuff in the first half. But until we get this defence sorted, we are going to have to score four and five goals each week to gain only a point.

Bobo Balde was dropped for the game after rumours that he will be leaving Celtic. However, I believe he will play on Tuesday as there needs to be another shake-up of the defence.

On the basis of yesterday's game, there isn't much to shout about, and it probably won't be long until the fans turn on the team. It looks as though it is going to be a long, hard season.
