This was a proverbial game of two halves with the first half failing to produce any kind of effort on goal at all.

The second livened up as both teams got stuck in and provided the small crowd with a contest.

The game started brightly with both sides looking up for the game but it eventually turned into a practice match as the pace slowed and few tackles were committed.

The first 45 minutes could have seen the keepers stay in the dressing room and we still wouldn't have had a goal.

We were finally treated to a shot at goal three minutes into the second half but David Clarkson could only screw Alex Burns' flick wide.

The game did eventually burst into life on 54 minutes when a melee formed after a high tackle on Martyn Corrigan by Liam Miller who was booked for his trouble.

This seemed to inspire the teams and we were finally treated to a goal on 64 minutes when Paul Quinn's throughball found Burns in space on the edge of the box and Clarkson tucked his lay-off home from six yards out.

Celtic responded when Aiden McGeady shot over from a Craig Beattie head-down ten minutes later. Then on 77 minutes Well could have extended their lead but Clarkson could only hook Stephen Craigan's flick over the bar.

A minute later the home side were punished for that miss as Celtic equalised when Beattie headed a right-wing corner from Jamie Smith into the net.

The game was fiery at this stage with tackles flying in from all angles and it was Motherwell who could have taken all three points in the 89th minute but Burns' looping header was easily saved by David Marshall.
