Inverness CT 1-0 Celtic

Celtic have been beaten 1-0 by Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup Quarter Finals. A Derek Wyness goal just before half time was enough to see Caley through.

It is an absoloute shocker of a result, in the space of 3 days we have witnessed arguably Martin O'Neill's greatest victory as Celtic boss, and his worst.

O'Neill made 8 changes to the UEFA Cup heroes of Thursday night, Valgaeren, Lennon and Larsson the only three to remain in the starting eleven.

In truthness, ICT had only one chance at goal and they took it. Celtic's overall dominance of the game, through shots at goal and possession will not be shown due to the overall result.

Martin O'Neill will come under fire this coming week, for the team which he put out for tonight's game, a team which he believed could manage a victory against a first division side. In my opinion, we clearly do not have a good enough squad, but O'Neill's choice of players was quite dissapointing. WE had no midfield: McNamara and Lennon are not creative players, someone like Petrov or Healy should have been in there.

It is alright saying that we have had a busy month, and it was right to rest the players, but we do not have another game for a couple of weeks, surely the team could have managed 90 more minutes.

David Fernandez is a disgrace. £1Million was paid for him and I have yet to see him kick a ball for this club. He is overweight, too slow, and should realise that he is playing for Celtic. We clearly have no width: Guppy and Smith are terrible at trying to beat players and put in crosses, this should be sorted out.

Trying to get a positive note out of tonight's game, we were unlucky. It was just one of those nights when nothing was going to go in for us. It is two less games for us to play, and allows us to concentrate on the UEFA Cup and SPL Championship. Rangers are looking good to win the Scottish Cup now, and to gift them with a possible treble would be suicidal.

Keep the faith, and let's now look at UEFA Cup and League success.

Celtic:
Broto - 7
Valgaeren - 7
Varga - 6
Laursen - 5
Guppy - 6
Lennon - 7
Fernandez - 4
McNamara - 7
Smith - 6
Larsson - 8
Maloney - 7 (Hartson 63) - 6
