Hibs 2-1 Celtic

It was a dire performance by a Celtic side tonight, still clearly suffering from Lyon, Hibs ran out 2-1 winners.

Celtic's performance was very poor, and we simply did not deserve to win the match. It was obvious tonight that we do not have the squad that we thought we had. Youngsters like Ross Wallace, John Kennedy and Shaun Maloney just do not have it, and the midfield got a showing up without Neil Lennon.

Despite Celtic taking the lead through a Stan Varga header on 56 minutes, the Hoops failed to capatalize on the lead. After Chris Sutton's substitution on 50 minutes, Celtic looked baffled. Long, high balls up to Shaun Maloney and Henrik Larsson are simply not going to work and Celtic were clueless.

Celts had a few chances to score, Chris Sutton hit the bar and Henrik Larsson had two great headed chances, one in the last minute, which summed up our night.

In the end it was another stupid penalty which gave away the points, John Kennedy was the culprit for the handball this time.

The CIS Cup is not the most famous of competitions but it would have been nice to stay alive in it.

All in all a poor performance, hopefully we can pick ourselves up for the visit to Motherwell on Sunday.
