Hearts 1-1 Celtic

Celtic debutant Aiden McGeady was Celtic's goalscorer today as The Champions drew 1-1 with Hearts at Tynecastle. Substitute Mark de Vries equalised for Hearts 15 minutes from time.

It was a great day for football in Edinburgh: the sun was shining and the Celtic support were out in numbers. Jamie Smith, Liam Miller, Bobo Balde and young McGeady found themselves included in a starting line-up which also included Johan Mjallby, Didier Agathe and goalkeeper David Marshall.

As usual at Tynecastle, the game was fast and furious. Neil Lennon was in the thick of the action and from the start it was clear we have some prospect on our hands with Aiden McGeady. A prospect not for the future, but for now.

McGeady scored the game's opener on 17 minutes, after a Stan Petrov corner was headed on by Varga. McGeady, unmarked, blasted home off the inside of Craig Gordon's post.

The Celtic support were in party mode, making a mockery of Hearts fans' pathetic attempts to keep their club at Tynecastle. A4 sheets of paper are just not the way to go about an issue as serious as this, and it looks like there will be "no huns at Gorgie" next season.

Jamie Smith and Johan Mjallby look to be heading out of Celtic Park at the end of the season. Martin O'Neill has obviously told them they can have a few more games, but surely they are off. Smith has simply not got it, despite putting in the effort, while Mjally, I am afraid, is past it.

McGeady was starting to work his way into the game, after a slightly nervy start. He showed some nice touches and his link-up play was sheer quality. Manchester United are once again sniffing about, hopefully we can keep this one.

Hearts had a chance to level the scores but David Marshall made a fine save.

Henrik Larsson came close in the second half with a header which went just past the post. But it didn't stop the high spirits in the Celtic end, which was bouncing by this time.

Mark de Vries came on as a Hearts substitute, and scored for the second time against Celtic this season. Pearhaps if this guy had been getting regular starts at Hearts, they could have made a challenge for second place in the SPL.

So 1-1 it finished, a typical end of the season game. Liam Miller looks more interested in not getting injured, while some players just don't look interested. The defence seems to be lacking in communication, they'll need to sort this out soon.

But we were only there for the party, on what looks to be our final trip to Tynecastle.

Good riddance.

Celtic-Mad Man of the Match: Aiden McGeady

Celtic-Mad Moment to Remember: The "No huns at Gorgie" chants, as Hearts fans staged a rather pathetic protest.

Celtic-Mad Moment to Forget: The usual Nazi salutes and Red Hand signals towards the Celtic support.
