Clyde 0-5 Celtic

Celtic today progressed to the Semi Finals of the Tennents Scottish Cup after a very comfortable 5-0 win over Clyde at Broadwood. Clyde held out for 40 minutes, but in the end it was a canter for Celtic. Stan Varga bagged a double, Alan Thompson scored from the penalty spot, Stan Petrov added another and Craig Bellamy scored his first goal for the club.

The difference in class was prety evident, Celtic were allowed to dictate the game at a fairly easy pace and a good result was what we needed after last week's debacle.

Sitting at the top of the First Division are Falkirk and Clyde. This season we have taken 13 goals off of them in only two games.

Martin O'Neill shuffled the pack for the game. Juninho started the match and played well, setting up three of Celtic's goals. With John Hartson suspended, Craig Bellamy partnered Chris Sutton up-front. Sutton, however, was subbed at half time with a suspected ankle injury.

Hopefully now we will have the confidence to bag goals against teams in the SPL. I know it was only Clyde, but well done to the players for responding to O'Neill's "ruthless" request. It's now time we practise this in league duty.

So we are one game away from another Cup Final. Our Semi-Final opponents will be revealed tomorrow night.
