Promising Young Celt goes to Charlton

Celtic Defender Mark Staunton has signed a Three year deal at Charlton. The player was one of Celtic's most promising starlets but does not see his future at the Parkhead club.

The Charlton academy have decided that the Seventeen year old player would fit in well and have decided to build their youth time around the central defender and will be looking to push Staunton into the first team as soon as possible.


Staunton was popular at Celtic park but suffered slightly from his lack of height and he was not picked as often as he would have liked for the Celtic under Nineteen side because of his height disadvantage against some very tall strikers who play in the SPL leagues.


Celtic are building a reputation as a feeding ground for other clubs as Their youth policy seems to be churning out many fine players and although Celtic can cherry pick the best of them other clubs are also keen to pick up the promising youngsters. The new training ground in Lennoxtown will further improve the strength of the Celtic youngsters and things are looking great for the young hoops
