Celtic 3-1 VFB Stuttgart

Goals from Paul Lambert, Shaun Maloney and Stan Petrov cancelled out a Stuttgart opener tonight at Parkhead.

It was a superb performance by the Bhoys, who were minus a few players: it will shut up all the tabloids who gave us no chance.

Stuttgart had a mixed first half performance, going 1-0 up as well as getting a man sent-off for pulling down Stan Petrov who was on his way to goal. Referee Collina was a joy to watch throughout and showed up the poor performances of Scottish officials.

Celtic's equaliser came from Paul Lambert, after a corner was touched down to his path, Lambo smashed it home from inside the box.

At the end of the first half, young Shaun Maloney pounced on a mistake made by a Suttgart defender to slot home.

The atmosphere was now electric inside the stadium and the tak at half-time was that Celtic could have the tie finished by the end of the night.

Stan Petrov cut in from the right hand side to score the third, to set up and interesting tie in Germany next week.
