Website Down Time

Last updated : 26 July 2004 By Kevin Smith
Below is a message from Footymad. This site, and all other Footymad websites, will be down for anything as long as 72 hours, starting on Wednesday. At the moment I am unsure whether or not the messageboard will be running, but an option would be to save the messageboard address into your favourites, and try to get into it directly.

From Footymad:
As mentioned in earlier back office messages we need to change the hosting arrangements for the sites. We are expecting to do this on Wednesday 28th July. This will result in the sites being down for potentially as long as 72 hours, hopefully less if all goes very well. This is not a situation we are happy about but there is little that can be done to avoid it, it must happen at some point. It is better to bite the bullet now rather than letting things be delayed further. If we were to leave it any later the disruption would be greater and more damaging. With Euro 2004 occupying the middle of the close season the opportunity to make the switch over at a quiet time was lost. We have had to wait on the new host getting resource and space in place for us and to find a time when our IT team could all focus on this one big task. This is a short term change which in the long term will be an overall gain because the new hosting site is infinitely more sophisticated than the existing office infrastructure and offers much greater resilience against power or network interruptions.
