Sutton And Pearson Scoop Awards

Tonight we raise a glass to Scotland's Players of the Year as voted for by the fellow professionals - Chris Sutton and Stephen Pearson.

Sutton scooped the SPFA Player of the Year award for season 2003/04, while Pearson bagged the SPFA Young Player of the Year award, for his part played in both Motherwell and Celtic's seasons.

Chris Sutton has been outstanding this season, despite being banned for the first six matches of the campaign. He has been scoring goals from everywhere, and the hassle he causes defenders has been rightfully recognised tonight. Sutton beats the likes of Rangers' Stefan Klos and fellow Celts, Henrik Larsson and Jackie McNamara in scooping the award.

Stephen Pearson's Celtic campaign has lasted only a few months, but he has since found himself playing at the Nou Camp, and beating the likes of Rangers at Ibrox. He has also helped Motherwell grab a top six position in the SPL. Pearson's award shows that he is ranked above Craig Gordon of Hearts, and Hibs' Derek Riordan.

Congratulations to both Bhoys, but they will be the first to admit that the awards represent the team as well as themselves.
