I spoke to Thomas and told him he won't play for us because of the system we play," Strachan said of the conversation with the player.

I for one still cant believe that the player was not a bigger hit during his spell with the club, such was the undoubted talent that he has for cultured and refined midfield play. The only problem is that he is only talented when he or the team are in possession of the ball. When we are not in position he looks like a headless chicken playing musical chairs on speed. If being a midfielder was all about tiring yourself out in a frantic version of pig-in-the-middle then our Thomas would be champion of the universe!
