Strachan and Brown win Manager and Player of the Year Awards

The annual Scottish PFA awards ceremony held in the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow, tonight saw Gordon Strachan named as Manager of the Year. The Celtic boss was nominated alongside Hamilton boss Billy Reid and St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes.

The SPFA Player of the Year award was presented to Celtic's Scott Brown following some outstanding displays from the dynamic midfielder this season. Brown fought off some stiff competition from media favourite Paulo Mendez of Rangers and team-mate Gary Caldwell.

Manager of the Year:                             Gordon Strachan (Celtic).
SPL Player of the Year:                         Scott Brown (Celtic).
Young Player of the Year:                     James McCarthy (Hamilton).
First Division Player of the Year:          Leigh Griffiths (Livingston).
Second Division Player of the Year:    Brian Prunty (Ayr United).
Third Division Player of the Year:         Bobby Barr (Albion Rovers).
Goal of the Season:                                Pedro Mendes (Rangers)
Special Merit Award:     Aberdeen's 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup team.
