Reid: Lawwell is going nowhere

Celtic have confirmed that chief executive Peter Lawwell is staying with the club. Chairman John Reid was quick to dismiss rumours surrounding Lawwell, a man many regard as one of the club's finest assets. Speculation in the press suggested that he was a prime candidate for a similar role within the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal looked to appoint their new CEO from a shortlist of two.

Lawwell took the reins at Celtic in 2003 in his second spell at the club, having served as financial controller 13 years previously. "Peter is a valuable and highly-valued part of Celtic Football Club and remains so," Reid said. "and he will continue to work with everyone at Celtic to ensure the club enjoys even more success and maintains its pre-eminent position within Scottish football"

His management of Celtic since taking over in 2003 has impressed many and it's no surprise that he is attracting the attention of one of the EPL's major clubs. He has taken Celtic from a substantial debt to financial security over his period in charge while still achieving domestic success and steady progress in the UEFA Champions League.
