Quinn Speaks Out

Celtic Chairman Brian Quinn has today spoken out against critics who say he is holding back money from Martin O'Neill.

Quinn claims that Celtic have already offered at least three players contracts this summer, but were knocked back at the prospect of Scottish football. One of these players is thought to be Yildaray Basturk.

Quinn said, "I would like to correct the remark that there is no money available. There is money available. We have already shown that. We have extended contracts. That is money. That costs the same money as buying players.

"W
e have made offers, good offers, to at least three players, who have elected for other reasons to decline those offers. I don't think they wanted to play football in Scotland in particular.

"And we remain active in the transfer market. We are going to do something for sure. I promise you we are going to do something. There is another month to go yet, so there is no sense of alarm or panic at Celtic Park."

Quinn's remarks are certainly a morale booster for the impatient Celtic support, who seem to demand 11 new faces every year. Echoing what many have been saying for the whole of the pre-season, he claims there is no need to panic.

With Henri Camara on his way for a medical today, it looks as though we are getting somewhere. There is still plenty of time, and I have no doubts that Celtic will not let us down.
