Pearo Going Nowhere

Despite being rumoured to be leaving Celtic this month, Stephen Pearson is staying at the club, say Gordon Strachan and Peter Lawell.

Pearson was instrumental in Celtic's comeback at Tynecastle on Sunday, and Preston North End manager Billy Davies has expressed his interest in the midfielder.

But Gordon Strachan said today, "To put an end to recent press speculation, Stephen Pearson is going nowhere. Stephen is part of the current first team and I hope he will play a big part in the remainder of the season."

Chief Executive Peter Lawell added to this by saying, "Although there have been expressions of interest, we have received no firm offer for Stephen and none will be encouraged."

With Stillian Petrov set to be sidelined for three weeks, Pearson could find himself with several starts for Celtic over the next few games. Players such as Pearson are the kind we should be looking to keep a hold of, and credit to Celtic for making that decision.
