Celtic continued their relentless pursuit of the championship with a narrow 1-0 win over Motherwell at Celtic Park on Saturday that moved them 23 points clear at the top with nine games remaining.
Crisis-stricken Rangers, who were docked ten points for entering administration earlier this month, play the first of two games in hand over their bitter rivals against Inverness on Sunday.
But there seems to be no stopping Celtic as they close in on the title and remain on course for a clean sweep of domestic trophies this season.
And Lennon admitted the league championship was Celtic's to throw away.
"It would take a huge collapse from us now to throw it away and it is a big ask for the rest of the guys to keep winning their games as well," Lennon said.
"I can't emphasise enough what a tremendous effort this has been by the players.
"They looked a wee bit leggy against Motherwell but that's maybe a bit understandable because there is a mental and physical pressure going with this run that they're on as everyone is talking about it.
"They just looked a bit tired towards the end of the game but they were fantastic in their effort and their application."
The win, courtesy of Gary Hooper's 16th league goal of the season in the 59th minute, was Celtic's 17th in a row in the SPL - their 20th in all competitions.
But Lennon says he still can't relax despite the margin of their lead at the top of the table.
"I was quite agitated against Motherwell as I said to the players that runs like this come once in your career," the former Celtic captain, who was part of the Martin O'Neill side that won 25 matches back to back in the 2003/04 season, said.
"You want to keep it going for as long as you can and you don't want it to lose it at home.
"It is a huge motivation for the players and it is something that is very special.
"Twenty wins in a row in all competitions is fantastic consistency at any level of football and these guys are doing it when people want to take their scalp.
"They are taking all comers on and are handling it really very well."
There has been a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for Celtic, who trailed Rangers by 15 points in the SPL the last time they played Motherwell back in October.
Celtic's lead has been boosted by the penalty dished out to Rangers for entering administration, but Lennon reacted angrily when asked whether this had tainted the title race.
"We don't want to go down that road. That's up to other people and we're not interested in what other people think," Lennon said.
"It's there in black and white. People can make their own assessments of things but we're not even bringing their scenario into the equation and are just concentrating on what we are doing."
