N'Guemo is like Real Madrid's £20m signing says Fortuné

Marc-Antoine Fortuné and his former Nancy team-mate Landry N'Guemo will both feature in tonight's friendly against Cardiff City in the Welsh capital and the striker gave Celtic fans a glimpse of just what to expect from the Cameroonian international who has joined the Hoops on a one-year loan deal and will make his debut tonight.

"Landry is strong, but he also has good technique and he can read the game well," said Fortuné. "He is a good signing for Celtic. He wants to show that he is capable of playing in a team like this. He will create chances for us. Landry can win the ball back from the other team and then make good passes for the strikers. The player he reminds me of is Lassana Diarra. Like him, he is not a big man, but he is physically strong while also being good technically. He is a good player, but you will see that for yourself. I've played with him before and any time that's happened he has had a good match."

Of course so much is expected of Fortuné himself. The £3.8m signing may turn out to be Tony Mowbrays biggest gamble as we head into the season but the man who scored five goals in the Premiership when on loan at WBA last season insisted that he feels no pressure to be the goal machine that Celtic supporters are looking for. "There is no pressure on me to score," he said. "Okay, so Celtic is one of the biggest clubs in the world, but I'm confident. I know the way I play, I work hard and that is the first step towards scoring goals. I will work hard and the goals will come. Of course, getting my first goal is important but I'm not thinking about that. Just because you don't score in a pre-season match doesn't mean you won't have a good season. The manager wanted me to come here because he saw what I could do when we were at West Brom. I have other qualities apart from goalscoring, mainly my hard work, and I will do my best to bring them to the team.

Following tonight's friendly at the new Cardiff City Stadium the Celts will travel to London for the Wembley Cup tournament where they'll face Al-Ahly on Friday and Spurs on Sunday. They will then return home and prepare to get serious in Wednesday's Champions League qualifier against Dinamo Moscow. "I'm excited about playing Cardiff City, but the main game for me is the first leg of the Champions League qualifying tie." said Fortuné "The game against Cardiff and the Wembley tournament will help us prepare for that. I have a goals target for the season but I will keep that to myself. Every season, someone asks me this and I give the same answer but people have to know that my real target is to play well and help the team to win the game."

Despite his frenetic schedule since joining the club Celtic's new number 10 insists that he's already settled in well in his new surroundings. "I feel settled here already," he said. "The fact we travelled to Australia almost as soon as I signed meant I had no time to discover Glasgow, but my first feeling about the place is a great one. The trip to Australia meant that we were travelling together for 24 hours and one day is enough to get to know everyone."

"They are good guys and they've been really nice with me." added Fortuné. "I've tried to understand everything about the club, the fans and Glasgow. I've spoken mostly with Marc Crosas because he speaks French but I've also talked to every other player. Tony Mowbray was the key factor for me when it came to deciding to come here. I played for him for six months last season and I really like the way he wants his teams to play."
