Neil Lennon still has an important role to play at Celtic Park

The exact remit of Neil Lennon's new job is still unclear although it goes without saying that his experience at Gordon Strachan's side can only be of benefit to the new team in this changeover period. He recently turned down the chance to manage Stockport County after a heart-to-heart with Tony Mowbray convinced him that he had a major part to play in the regeneration of the club he loves.

Willie McStay's move to Ujpest Dozsa had led to conjecture that Neil would assume control of the reserves but the new manager was less than clear on the exact roles to be played by specific coaches. "I'm more than happy to have Neil involved in working with some of the young players." said Tony Mowbray today. "But myself, Mark Venus and Peter Grant will also be doing that. Neil is part of that coaching staff and will help us work with all the players and improve them."
