Tony Mowbray’s restructure of the Celtic defence starts today in earnest as we finalise the paperwork to secure Jos Hooiveld on a three and a half year deal.

Hooiveld, 26 comes highly recommended by former fans favourite Johan Myallby and was part of the AIK Stockholm squad who won the domestic double last season.

It is expected that the £1.5M deal will be concluded today with the player being unveiled to the press by tomorrow afternoon.

The player had this to say about the move:

“My style fits here and I could do a job for Celtic, said Hooiveld, ahead of an agreement being reached last night. ‘I hope everything will be ready as soon as possible. It will be great to play for a Club like Celtic”

“I have done a lot of medical tests -  all the usual stuff. Of course, it will be great to become a Celtic player. It is a classic big club, and like AIK they have many passionate fans. All of Glasgow lives and breathes football”

Meanwhile the players agent Alex Kroes confirmed that the deal was at an advanced stage.

“The papers have not been completed, but the deal is in place’ said Alex Kroes. “I was given permission from AIK to speak to Peter Lawwell about a contract for Jos and we will speak again on Monday to finalise things.

“Jos is very excited about the future with Celtic. I hope he can develop further and help Celtic win many important prizes”

As do we!

Yours in Celtic
