Following in the recent footsteps of Jackie McNamara, Alan Thompson, Chris Sutton and Johan Mjallby, Shaun Maloney has put pen to paper, signing a contract extension. The young striker will now be at Celtic until at least May 2007.

Maloney has been out of action for most of this season, after picking up a bad knee injury while playing for the Under 21's. The signing of the contract can be seen as a thank you to the club and fans for their support throughout his time of injury.

Martin O'Neill is making business out of signing up the current squad for a few more years, quietening speculation that he is moving on. With a bit of luck there will be more to follow soon.
