Emilio Izaguirre admits Celtic fans reduced him to tears as he returned from a broken ankle. He made his comeback from the bench to a huge ovation as Celtic won 3-0 at Dunfermline on Monday. The Honduras left-back is in contention to make the starting eleven for the first time since August when Celtic face Peterhead in the William Hills Scottish Cup fourth round on Sunday.

Izaguirre said: "The players and whole team have been great to me and the fans have been unbelievable. My family and I are grateful to the fans as they have always been sending me letters, asking me to get well soon. On December 24, when I was on the bench at Celtic Park after being out for four months injured, when they sung my name I was crying about this. I was very emotional and that made me very happy. And when I returned to the team against Dunfermline last Monday and played 11 minutes, it was incredible - the fans were very beautiful. So I would like to thank all the Celtic fans for their support."

Izaguirre tested his ankle again during a 90 minutes training-ground friendly against Kilmarnock on Wednesday which went well. He said: "It was very good for me as I got another 90 minutes. I feel physically good and my ankle feels good."
