Leo Reveals Why he had to Give Artur the Boot

Poland Boss Leo Beenhakker has today dropped the three players censured for their involvement in a late night drinking session in the Ukraine that left a hotel room trashed.

He said: "It was a very difficult decision to drop Artur, Dariusz and Radoslaw - one of the hardest I've ever taken.

"I spent the entire weekend thinking about it and struggled to get my head round it. It still hurts to think about what I am doing but I have no option.

"I have the same sort of feeling I have had in the past many times as a father. Sometimes your kids do things that disappoint you.

"When that happens you have to punish them and show them the right way in life but no matter how hard you come down on them you still love them.

"I still love my players dearly but for the moment we are separated.

"How long we will be separated for will depend on how they react.

"I phoned Artur on Monday to tell him. I didn't want him to hear it through the gossips and I wanted to stress his Poland career is not over.

"He can play for me again but it is in his hands to make that happen. He has to show me why I wanted him in the first place, prove why I have often said he's one of the top five keepers in the world.

"He has proved that ability at Celtic but he and the others have to take responsibility for their actions. They have to make sure they don't make mistakes twice.

"To say I feel let down by Artur is too strong. He made a mistake.

"We all make them."

Yes Leo, we do.

Yours in Celtic
