Gordon Strachan: We're going for Huszti

Hungarian international Huszti would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement in January but ideally Celtic would like to have him join the club straight away.

"He is on our radar," said Strachan. "We have watched him a lot and John Park and Peter Lawwell will start talks in January with the player. But, until you meet the player, you just don't know. Ideally, you would like to keep these things quiet, but this is the world we live in here. Other clubs are alerted and it's happened to us a couple of times. As you know fine well, you can't keep anything a secret here."

The highly rated Huszti began his professional career at the legendary Ferencváros but only managed one full season with them before he was sold to French side FC Metz in 2005 before moving to the Bundesliga a year later for a fee of around £200,000.

He's often lauded as the golden boy of Hungarian football and he has hinted that it may be time for him to move on again "I think at the age of 25 it is high time for me to change." he said recently "but I can only say more about the rumours when I sign a contract or when it's decided that I'll stay here in Hannover."

Many have already suggested that the highly entertaining winger could be viewed as a direct replacement for Aiden McGeady if the controversial Celt leaves the club during the upcoming transfer window.

Although Hannover 96 would love to keep the player it seems that they could be tempted to let him go in January if the price is right "There is no offer, if someone comes to us then we will think about it then." said Christian Hochstaetter, Hannover's sporting director, "But the probability of us letting Szabi go in January is pretty slim."
