English clubs 'stupid' if they don't steal Strachan

"The big clubs would be stupid not to be thinking about taking our manager." said Brown. "When you look at what he has done - winning three leagues in a row plus cups - in just three seasons you realise there aren't many managers with such a record."

"It's up to the manager and Peter Lawwell what happens in the future." he added. "But I am sure Peter will be looking at doing something in terms of talks to keep him here. I hope he stays as long as possible. I am enjoying it now and that's why I came here - to enjoy the football and be with a good manager."

Celtic's midfield dynamo dedicated his Player of the Year award to his boss and insisted that the manager had helped him reach his potential this season. "He has had a huge bearing on my progress." said the Celtic number 8. "I didn't manage to have the best season last year but he knew the stuff that was going on and helped me through that. He has been great with me ever since."

The former Hibs player is pleased that his boss has himself been rewarded for his efforts over the last twelve months. "I am delighted he won Manager of the Year." he said. "He deserves that award. He gets a lot of grief but not a lot of people have done for Celtic what he has and I am delighted for him. "

"The gaffer is a character and good with the lads." he continued. "He's got time to speak to everybody. He always pulls you aside and says you should be doing this or that or asking what you think about things. He'll speak to you and you can speak to him. He deals with the pressure and he thrives on it so I'm sure he's enjoying all this every bit as much as we are."

Brown is certainly enjoying his season but although the Player of the Year award is appreciated it will only really begin to look good for Broony when there is a league Champions medal next to it on the mantelpiece. "It means a great deal when you see the great names who have won it in last 25 years." he said. "You have Larsson, Laudrup and Gazza so it's great to be among those people. It's my biggest honour but we all want to win the league. You have to think of all the players on the park with you. If they weren't there playing as well as they have been I wouldn't be up for this award."

"I definitely want them to win it before I come back" he continued. "As long as we win it that's the main thing. It doesn't matter who plays because it is a team game in the end and it comes down to what Celtic do. If we win this league then that is more important than me playing games."
