Doumbe Delight for Celts

Celtic fullback Jean-Joel Perrier Doumbe is racing ahead of schedule in his comeback from a achilles injury. It was feared that Doumbe could be out for the rest of the season with the injury that he sustained during Celtics victory over AC Milan at Parkhead.

The player had started to impress with a few solid performances and had looked to fill the void created with Mark Wilson’s recurring knee trouble, only to become injured himself.

However the player has stated that he will be ready to come back for the final phase of the season, the run in. Doumbe said: "March is the time I'm looking at for returning. "I feel I have been a bit unlucky but there is nothing I can do about injuries or things like that.

"The only thing I can do is look to the future and try to make my comeback as quickly and as safely as possible. I'm feeling fine and I'm getting better. I think I will be properly ready in about one month.

"Every day I'm working in the gym on my rehabilitation and I can tell you it's hard graft.

"When I first got the injury it was thought I could be out for up to six months but I know it won't be that long. I will return before the end of the season. That is for sure."

Celtic have had to endure a nightmarish period with injuries, and at one stage of the season the Club had no recognised fullbacks fit enough to make an appearance. With Andreas Hinkel looking to have already cemented his place as first choice right-back, Doumbe and Mark Wilson may be looking to the opposite flank as a means to getting games, with Mark Wilson already proving himself in that position in his first season.

Lets hope that Doumbe’s quick recovery is a sign that our injury jinx is over for the minute.

Yours in Celtic
