Contract Extensions For English Bhoys

Last updated : 07 April 2004 By Kevin Smith
Chris Sutton and Alan Thompson today signed extensions to their Celtic contracts, keeping them both at the club until 2007.

The two Englishmen have been massive in Celtic's European and Domestic campaigns over the last few seasons, both pitching in with great performances and key goals.

Both players were signed by Martin O'Neill in his first season at the club - Sutton from Chelsea and Thommo from Aston Villa.

The extensions are great news for Celtic fans, but in truth, today's contracts do not mean the players will stay at the club for the said time. Who could forget Rangers' joy when Barry Ferguson signed an extension this time last year, he was off a few months later.

Here's hoping more players will follow suit, and keep this machine rolling for at least another few years!
