Come Early And Enjoy

Below is a copy of a letter which was sent to myself from Celtic FC last week. The letter regards tonight's Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk, and Celtic Park.

UEFA Champions' League
Celtic v Shakhtar Donetsk - Tuesday 02 November 2004, 7:45pm

Come Early and Enjoy

Recent success in European competition has led to an unprecedented demand to see these high profile matches at Celtic Park. The next episode of this season's UEFA Champions' League drama sees Celtic take on FC Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday 02 November 2004, 7:45pm. Through feedback from supporters and stewards we recognise that there has been a congestion issue on entering the stadium at the North East Corner around the area of turnstiles 32-39 for Champions' League fixtures.

In conjuntion with the Safety Team we have implemented a range of improvement measures over the past two games to tackle the issue and encourage a free flow of supporters around the stadium and along Janefield Street.

This is simliar to the arrangement that was implemented for the North West Corner of the Stadium last year. The images attached to this letter highlight the specific area in question. With the help of our stadium stewards and Strathclyde Police we are setting up well-defined safer queue control system for turnstiles 32 to 39 in order to achieve optimum spectator flow through the Janefield Street underpass.

If you enter or circulate the ground around the North East corner, particularly via turnstiles 32-39, can we ask that you take note and participate in these new arrangements. You may be aware that the localised congestion at Turnstiles 32 to 39 did hinder access to the stadium and as a result a long delay was experienced prior to the recent Barcelona match. As you know the pre-match kick off atmosphere at Celtic Park is unrivalled and the Club are particularly keen that their support is fully assembled before kick off.

Our message is to come early and take your seats to cheer on the team in the pre-match build up before the big kick-off at 7:45pm. We look forward to welcoming you to the stadium as Group F of the UEFA Champions League enters its climax.

The Club takes spectator safety very seriously and these measures have been adopted to ensure safer controlled entry to the stadium before the match. Further details of these arrangements are set out on our website at www.celticfc.net.

Yours sincerely
