Charlie Mulgrew unsure on Celtic future despite talks with Brendan Rodgers

The 30-year-old Hoops utility man, out of contract this summer, has spoken to new Parkhead manager Brendan Rodgers about his future.

However, speaking after coming on as substitute in Scotland's 3-0 friendly defeat by France in Metz on Saturday night, he revealed that nothing yet had been agreed.

"I'm happy," he said.

"I want to stay, but the longer it goes on, you start to wonder if it's going to happen.

"I've spoken to the manager and he wants me to stay, which is important for me

You want to feel wanted.

"Hopefully we can come to some kind of agreement soon.

"There's no offer on the table yet, but I think it's moving towards that this week."

Mulgrew is keen to be part of a new era under former Liverpool boss Rodgers, who has generated some excitement at Parkhead since been named as Ronny Deila's successor.

"The new manager's plans for the club are great," said the former Wolves and Aberdeen player.

"It's exciting times ahead for Celtic

I hope I can be involved in that because I think there's a few big years coming up.

"It's not as quick as just signing it

These things are never quick.

"There's bits and pieces that need tied up, things need (to be) done, but hopefully we can get it done as quickly as possible."
