Celtic Stars in the Media: - Do Their Talking on the Pitch or A Welcome Rallying Call?

Celtic in the media will always be a contentious debate and one where the old cliché of Celtic fans paranoia will be offered in excuse for yet another hatchet job on our Club, its players or indeed us as supporters. The more accepting among us may even concede that it is all an attempt to sell papers, with many among us falling over ourselves to take the journalistic bait in phone ins and talk shows.

One aspect of Celtic in the media that has been quite apparent in recent weeks is the volume of playing staff that have been rolled out one by one to defend our form and to re-assert our title credentials. Everyone from Andreas Hinkel to Gary Caldwell, Barry Robson and now Willo Flood has been rolled out to tell us that the future is Green and White.

Much has been said about these players comments with many believing that they should keep their mouths shut as these comments only serve to gee up the opposition but are they comments that these players have made really that bad or is it just the headline that whichever red top covers the story.

The latest comments emanating from Willo Flood however have been totally misrepresented in today's chip wrappers. I watched a recent interview with the young Irishman where he correctly points out that Celtic have had a terrible run of form which cannot last forever and if Rangers wish to win the League they will need to continue their run of form till the end of the season.

I only wonder how the Hugh's Unbelievable News Story (HUNS) machine at the Record will spin this story?

Yours in Celtic
