Boss Mowbray Hints at a Few More New Faces and Bemoans International Games.

Tony Mowbray has dropped a big hint that Celtic are not yet done in the transfer market - although we will probably have to wait until more players move on before bringing in any new faces.

Speaking after the 2-1 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday Mowbray also voiced displeasure at the timing of the World Cup Qualifiers that will see him lose almost an entire starting 11 until Friday afternoon.

Mowbray was quick to point out that Celtic will not be involved in any big money purchases akin to Saturday's opposition, and that he would prefer to wait until we have more departures before bringing in the new faces.

"We are probably at the other end of the scale to Manchester City," he said.

"At this moment we want some outs to get some ins. I would like to think there is going to be some movement but we will wait and see.

"The positive thing about this game was that some of the younger players showed they have the quality to step in and do OK."

"I know it was only a pre-season game but I was pleased. It was more akin to the Tottenham performance at Wembley rather than the Sunderland one at Parkhead."

Regardless of the midweek international fixtures Mowbray believes that his side is ready for the demands of the season to come, although he did state the exact same thing prior to the first leg defeat to Moscow!

"The team are ready for the start of the season," he said.

"It was pleasing to see so many young players pitting their wits against some pretty expensive signings who are expected to do well in the Premier League this season. There were plenty of positives from our perspective."

Some of those young players may have to be called upon next weekend if the rigors of International football claim any one of the nine Celts who have jetted off to take part in World Cup Qualifiers.

"We have nine away next week. Most of them will not be back until 4pm on Thursday, so the first time we will have the team together is the Friday, which is when we travel to Aberdeen. It is not ideal.

"The reason we left so many out on Saturday was that we have such numbers playing international football next week.

"We had a tough game in Moscow, then on Saturday, then the international team, then Aberdeen, then Arsenal, then St Johnstone, then Arsenal again, then Hibs. It just keeps coming.

"It is important to look after your players."

Yours in Celtic
