Bertie Auld believes Loovens Can Win Regular Place with Ibrox Show.

As one of the leading members of the Lions, gallus Bertie Auld is a safe bet as a judge of a players worth and he has given a massive vote of confidence to Dutch Defender Glenn Loovens.

The 25 year old who signed from Cardiff in the summer impressed when Celtic last faced the Devil's eleven in the CIS Cup Final and Bertie feels that the big stopped is more than capable of slotting into the heart of defence once more.

Further to that Auld feels that there is no better game for the likeable Sean Bean look-alike to announce his arrival than in the match against Rangers.

"There is no better place for him to show what he can do than Ibrox.

"He is a typical Dutch footballer in that he is confident, comfortable on the ball and has composure.

"I would like to see him a bit more defensive minded but he is commanding in the air at both ends of the park.

"He has pace although I think he sees Scottish football as a bit hurried and it sometimes takes him a bit to get going.

"But Ibrox is the place for him to say, 'I want a permanent place'."

Lets hope he continues the fine display he showed against them in his last match. Not only was Loovens commanding throughout, he also showed that he carries a goal threat, with him narrowly missing the target with headers on a few occasions at Ibrox.

Indeed he may even be worth a wee five pound bet as first goal scorer!
