Dunfermline (H) Preview

Celtic v Dunfermline
Bank of Scotland SPL
Sunday 2nd May 2004
Celtic Park, Glasgow
Kick Off 3pm, Live on BBC

Win, lose or draw, Celtic will be presented with the SPL trophy tomorrow. The game is fairly irrelevant.

Tomorrow will be our 35th league game of the season, added to Champions League Group Stages, a UEFA Cup run and Scottish and CIS Cup games. It has been a long, hard season for Celtic. We have the chance to celebrate and relax for at least one afternoon tomorrow.

It's days like the title presentation days that you realise the full extent of what we have achieved. Trips up to Aberdeen, winning at Ibrox, tricky midweek away games and winning and Dens Park and Easter Road with ten men are what win Championships - we are the best team in the country, by a country mile.

Tomorrow is a chance for for the players to celebrate that fact and for the fans, this is when we are paid back for the hard-earned cash which we plunge into this club, year after year.

Isn't it ironic that the two teams who did their very best do stop Celtic winning the league last season, Kilmarnock and Dunfermline, will be the opposition at two Celtic party dates? We've already had our revenge against Killie, now it's Dunfermline's turn.

It will be interesting to see how many Dunfermline supporters attend tomorrow's game, after being allocated a shocking 15,000 tickets for the Scottish Cup Final. The Dunfermline end, however, may be made up of Celtic fans without tickets for the home allocation.

Celtic should field a strong side, and go for the victory. Nothing will spoil our day, but it would be nice to be presented with the trophy after collecting yet another three points.

Sutton, Thompson and Petrov will not play, due to injuries, and Aiden McGeady may be left out just to keep the hype down.

Enjoy the day, Bhoys, you deserve it.

Hail Hail!
